If you have ever wanted to try hand building for the first time, or incorporate hand building into your clay practice, this workshop is for you! Firing fee of $.06 per cubic inch is additional for each piece.

Cost: $140 for 3 classes

Sculptural Vessels: Intermediate Hand Building

Workshop requires some hand building knowledge and proficiency with the basic techniques (especially coiling). Instructor Lilian Wu will focus on bringing to life creative and sculptural vessels that have emphasis on both function and form. Students would work over the course of 4 weeks on one, large-scale vessel (12″ cap height for firings) and will return for a final class to glaze the works a few weeks later. Lilian will provide artist references and supplementary texts that might be useful/inspiring for this kind of work, and ask that everyone bring drawings and concepts to the first class. Firing fee of $.06 per cubic inch is additional for each piece
