About this Class

Our nurturing teachers, who specialize in sparking a passion for creative expression in children, know how to make our classes special by creating an atmosphere of learning, fun & friendship. Focusing on hand-building and sculpture, painting pottery, mosaic techniques and canvas painting, students will craft  bowls, plates, cups, vases as well as amazing sea creatures, animals and more creative fun.  Students are taught the fundamentals of slab, pinching, and coil techniques.

Your child will glaze work throughout the semester, but due to the firing process, some pottery will not be ready to paint by the last class. You will be allowed to make up one missed class by attending a comparable class within the same semester only. Make-ups are available subject to the space in the class you wish to attend. If the class is sold out, you may not make up the class at that time.

We will call or email to notify you when all of your child’s work is bagged and ready for pickup (typically 2-3 weeks after the last class). If pottery is not picked up within 30 days of notification, we will donate your child’s pottery, due to lack of space.

We offer school pick up at select schools at school dismissal. Minimum of three children to pick up from one school.  Register for school pick up with your after school program registration.

Sibling Discount: Receive 10% off your additional child when you register 2 or more children from the same family. This discount will be applied automatically when you checkout.

No Class: January 19, February 16-20, March 20

Options for School Pick-up and Late Pick-up

Minimum of three children to pick up from one school.   School pick-up includes homework help if needed.

  • School Pick-Up for the Entire Semester: +$200 (10 Weeks),+$220 (11 Weeks), +$240 (12 Weeks)
  • Late Pick-Up: +$150 (10 Weeks),+$165 (11 Weeks), +$180 (12 Weeks)

At Painted Pot in Park Slope location, we pick up from PS321, PS118, PS39, PS282 & Berkley Carroll

Snack Time
Weather permitting, we will have snack time outside.  If weather is inclement, the children will have 10 minutes to eat their snacks in our studio

Cancellation Policy
Given the nature of our small business, The Painted Pot does not offer refunds. 

For The Painted Pot Clay & Art Afterschool classes
  • If you need to cancel 4 weeks or more before class starts, a full credit for use in a future program will be added to your account.
  • If you cancel between 2 and 4 weeks before class starts, a 50% credit will be added to your account.
  • If you cancel less than 2 weeks before class starts, no credit will be issued.

Credit can be used toward Clay & Art Classes only. Credit cannot be used for birthday parties, Holiday Day Camps, Summer Camp or workshops.  

Make-Up Classes
You will be allowed to make up one missed class by attending a comparable class within the same semester only. Make-ups are available subject to the space in the class you wish to attend. If the class is sold out, you may not make up the class at that time. To make up a class, do not call. Please arrive on time and ask the teacher for permission to join. We do not guarantee make-ups however, they are offered as a courtesy to our students. Please know you are responsible for showing up for class each week.
